Can someone tell me what exactly Zetec is. I know atleast i believe that honda's and acura's Vtec is a shifting cam. That moves from smaller valves to bigger vavles at higher RPM's. Is this the same thing with Zetec, and if so, can you get controllers that change the point in which they shift?

A Zetec is an engine. In fact it is Fords name for the 4cyl 2.0lt that is found in both Contiques, Cougars and Focus'. It has nothing to do with cam control, although by coincedence the Zetec does have a variable exhaust cam. And the up and coming SVT Focus will have a variable Intake cam, smilar to the workings of the Honda VTEC. I believe the name Zetec cam about from the inital name of the design project of the 4cyl, called the Zeta Program. Terry Haines spoke about this once before.

Don't forget, the Zetec is the DOHC 2.0L I-4. The crappy Focus comes with a SOHC 2.0 I-4. I have convinced my mom (who is going to buy a Focus before the 0.0% deal ends) that she NEEDS the Zetec. Maybe I'll have to buy her a turbo for Christmas?

Will that new SVT Focus still be a I4 engine or a V6? And is there some place to read about it?

Another mystery of Ford, build an enthusiasts car and don't give much room to play, where have we seen that before?

You have to put the T-5 in it anyway and that will withstand quite a bit. Originally posted by SoDxSainT: They have a concept v6 focus. It's on that svt page. Hence the term concept. As in won't see the light of day as a production model. Rara can back me on the fact that the Focus w/ the V6 is too front end heavy for handling purposes.
