Just want to extend the invitation again...
October 6, 2001 Michigan Merkur Owners Network is having its second annual fall color tour...
Basically what this involves is a drive up to Mt. Pleasant where one of our members owns a Brewery where we will have lunch and free beer (but not a lot because we will be driving afterwards)... Then we go out on a drive down back roads to observe the "fall colors". Last year we missed the colors and just ended up doing triple digits down a lot of back roads and wide open expressways "up north".
Plan is to meet at the brewery at noon, and there is a group meeting in Brighton (96 and US 23) at 10am that will be heading up together. If anyone wants more information on the event, email me (adloynes@oakland.edu) or check out www.mmon.org and go to the "Events" section.
You can also post replies here... and I'll respond wink

So you meet at the brewery in Mt. Pleasent and drive up north then? Where do you stay overnight at? I may be interested but is anyone bringing the wife/girlfriend/one-night-stands with them? I'd like to do this because I have almost 2 weeks of driving to make up for!

Basically the drive is in the Mt Pleasant-ish area... last year we drove for about 2 hours I think... went up towards Cadillac and in a loop that ended up back in Mt Pleasant. We didn't really go "Up North" much more than that. There is a lot to see in that area though, and a lot of great twisty roads.

As far as bringing "wife/girlfriend/one-night-stands" along - feel free. Last year my fiancee and another members girlfriend went along... they had a great time talking to each other at the photo stops while we all talked cars wink

From the looks of things I may actually be driving my XR on the color tour too!! Thats pretty exciting... assuming I can find a release lever for the T5 I have in my XR... Ford dealerships seem to not have the part that I need listed anywhere... *mutter*

There is also talk of doing an over night stay in Mt Pleasant - a few of our guys are planning to do that so they can enjoy the brewery more... but I don't know if this would involve coming up early or staying late... I won't be doing that because the fiancee has to be home to work Sunday...

The "Brighton Group" will be leaving from Brighton shortly after 10 am on October 6 (saturday). We will be meeting at the McDonalds that is on Grand River just off the Grand River exit from I-96. (Directions will be posted on The MMON web page in the "Events" section tonight)

Any further questions can be directed to me on this board or privately...

Okay... final post on this topic tonight...
The Brewery we are headed to is this one here: www.mountaintown.com if you end up not being able to catch the Brighton group and would still like to come along, that is where we will be meeting at noon.
