Hey Gang,

So got this egg damage to the clear coat. Pretty much my cuz and I got some bug and tar removing car soap and attacked it with some 100% diaper rags... (Yes clean smile Got it all off we thought but once it dried you can tell the clear coat is damaged or has residue on it still.

So any Ideas besides a recommeded detail shop are welcome.

TIA,
Ray

I would use a clay bar and try it yourself, can I suggest Mequiers clay bar, simply the best. I detail cars on the side incase you need your car "protected" before the winter. Like Bon-Bilt..."I do good work!"

Clay bar will remove residue but not damage to the clearcoat. Let me guess the spot looks like fine nicks in the surface in a circle right?. Get the spot wet if it goes away then it is in the clearcoat and has not gotten down to the basecolor. Use some ultra fine paper like 2000 grit and some polish by machine or hand and you should be able to remove the spot. Watch that you don't go to far I don't think Ford puts a whole lot of clear on their vehicles as compared to GM witch I'm used to dealing with.
