Last weekend started out pretty good I flew in from Vegas and Dave picked me up... at noon we left to go to Chicago for Hot Import Nights, all went well for a while then we got pulled over by a state Trooper, Dave got a ticket for 92 in a 70 then the cop proceeed to tell us it was illegal in the state of Michigan to have any kind of tint on the front 3 windows news to us, then he also wrote us a warning for having our plate covered with a tinted cover, then we proceeded on to Chicago I decided I better drive after that, so we finally get to HIN and what do the people say but we never talked to you guys you don't have a spot for you... Dave was about to go off on the guy so we decided to just leave and chill out so we got to thinking about Terry's house on Saturday so we called up Mark and we stayed in Benton Harbor and went to Terry's... Which had a great time, so we left there around 9 or so following Rara and Orient Star, so we get about a hour out side of Novi and what happens this time I am driving and we get pulled over, now mind you I am following Rara so the cop pulls me over and asks for everything well being the smart one that Dave is he can't find his registration or new proof of insurance so the cop was a cocky ******* and 1. told me to shut the car off cause he did not want to die of arbon monoxide poisoning 2. that it is illegal to make modifications to your exhaust 3. he would not let Dave go into the trunk to get his Registration out of his planner his exact words were I am not going to spend all night going through your trunk to find something that probably is not even there... so he asks if I knew how fast I was going I said yes the last time I looked at the speedo it sadi 82-83 I was following my friends, he says ya I clocked them doing 80 so I guess you were the ucky one to get pulled over now mind you we were in a 70 mile and hour zone, so he goes to his car and comes back says since you have no points I wrote you up for 5 over no points but call this number for the fine... I have never beenso frusturated in my life... Anyone have any similar stories...?

All in all the State Police made about $300 dollars off gr8tride and myself this weekend what a bunch of BS!

hey i feel you that happened to me when i was on my way back from bloomfeild hills after i got my windsheld fix a cop pulled me over and said that the front windows that i had tinted were il-legal so he askeed if he could go through my car i said yes because i had nothing to hide and what does he do he rips the window tint of my two front windows.
cops suck

As far as I know, as of last year, 5 mph over is now worth points (or a point). Anybody else have any info on this? I've been very lucky in my dealings with cops. I have been pulled over 22 times last time I counted with only a "no registration" ticket to show for it.

It's kind of good in a way since points will be spread over 2 people instead of one. I speed myself but generaly keep it under 80. The only time I go fast is when I know the area and where the cops hide. I can't believe you guys got pulled over twice though. I've been driving for 10 years and have only received 3 tickets. One at 17 and 2 in the same week when I was 20. If you adhere to the under 80 you should be pretty safe. I've blown by cops at 78 and they haven't really looked at me. Maybe I'm just lucky. I did have a state boy pull behind me after exiting my car at a McD's and said my side tint was illegal. He said he'd give me a ticket the next time he saw me. I thought fine since I'll never see him again It was up north where I rarely travel. I usually have my windows down when it's warm anyway.

My last ticket (3 weeks ago) was by a state cop on I-75. I actually wasn't speding on the freeway due to traffic, but sped up on the exit ramp for 8 Mile. Motorcycle cop said he paced me at 78mph before I downshifted for engine braking. Wrote me for 70 in a 65 zone and said no points, only money. I didn't verify, though.

tinted windows are NOT probable cause for search. You should have said "no, you have no probable cause or reason to search" If he went ahead anyway, that spells lawsuit and a deskjob pushing papers for the cop.

Ok, I am new to this country, but can a f**ken cop pull tint off your windows on the side of the road? I highly doubt that!
You should find out if that is legal and if not, sue that prick!
Man that sux Dave. Those guys must have had attitude problems. Hope they get their own in the future. There is NO need for that sort of harassment.

I don't know if they can pull it off in front of you, but I know they can have you take it off right on the side of the road..

that priick trooper got me a $200 fine and 4 points.
