Being born and raised in Louisiana, I don't have to be told about the heat and the help of tinting on that front either. I guess what I was getting at is for people who get illegal tint JUST for looks. For them, I have no sympathy about getting pulled over. As ya'll know, it doesn't take very much tinting to reduce the temperature in the car. I think it's rather ironic how people try to attract attention to themselves and them hide behind the tint. Interesting concept .... Have a good one!

I like the look of most cars with tinting as well. Honestly, I have nothing to hide because I keep nothing in my car. I also only have 35% tint on the car. Just enough to keep it cool, but not to draw attention. I felt I had to go with 20% on the F-150 because that's what matched that back factory privacy glass.
I've yet to get pulled over for the tint is either vehicle (truck for 2.5 years, car for only 3 months). But if I do, I surely won't complain. It was my choice to do it and I paid for it knowing MI laws.

I have all four side windows done at 30 percent and the rear windshield done at 20 percent. I went with these, because I wanted my car to look classy and not ghetto. I have had the tint for about 4 months with no hassels. Although, whenever I see a police car ahead of time, I make it a point to roll down the front windows just in case.
The officers in my area used to be a lot tougher on window tinting, but seem to have loosened up recently. I think a lot of it has to do with your attitude as well. If they see an average Joe looking person driving their four door, they probably will not do anything about it. On the other hand, if they see a slouched teenager with their hat on backwards and the bass booming, they just may use the windows as an excuse to whip out the ol' ticket book. Of course, if they cannot SEE you, they probably will just assume the worst.
My tip to readers without, but considering window tint: DO IT, but do it in moderation. 30% all-around will give you the coolness and visual appearance you are looking for.
Where to do it? I would recommend Fade To Black, it is a local entrepreneurship that will come to your home, resonable prices, lifetime warranty, AWESOME WORK, great guy. The number is 248-224-7624, ask for Jason Good. Tell him "Steve, the kid with the silver SVT and broken rear defroster lines sent you."

Hey Seth the window tint looks good on our cars. Although I don't have the tint on mine yet I don't see whats wrong with the 50% tint, which is the lightest available. My whole thing is this..."why in the hell is it legal in some states but illegal in others?" Doesn't the sun shine in ALL the states?

The reason that the tint laws are different in each state is that the responsibility for setting regulations regarding cars (after the manufacturer is done building it and with the exception of smog rules) falls to the states. One of those Constitutional amendment thingies. As far as tint goes, I think it looks good in moderation and has a functional value, especially in the desert SW. However, the tint rules are in place basically as a police safety issue, so they don't get shot performing a traffic stop. With a couple of police officers in the family, I'm OK with that reasoning. State laws vary from state to state depending on how strong your state's cop lobbying group is and how permissive your state legislature is. Of course, most cops (especially local ones) really get cheesed just because they can't watch your every move through the tint and that hurts their power ego. You just might have some doughnuts in there that he wants to check for contraband.
