An auto industry analyst, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Ford is accepting bids from suppliers for a Mondeo made to U.S. specifications, expected in 2005 as a 2006 model.

The current-generation Mondeo does not meet U.S. crash test requirements. Changing the model's front end to comply would be costly and could ruin its design, so Ford is waiting for a complete vehicle redesign to bring it to the United States.
I wouldn't get my hopes up..... frown

What did they change from our Contiques that made them so not US crash worthy?
Almost sounds like our present cars could be suspect? Why would the present Mondeo be down graded? Obviously not all is known about this chassis design.

I really could care less...there will NEVER be a brand new Ford in my future...too many problems that were never fixed properly by incompetent dealers. This Contour I own is a disgrace to Ford. LISTEN UP FORD...YOU GUYS SUCK!!! YOUR NEW CARS SUCK!!! YOUR POLICIES SUCK!!! YOUR DEALERSHIPS SUCK!!! YOUR CUSTOMER SUPPORT SUCKS!!! The best Ford I ever owned was a '90 5.0 Mustang...not an ounce of trouble. Why is it that a newer more advanced 95 Contour could not follow the footsteps of its earlier brother? The only reason I can justify keeping my car is for this list...I can say for a fact...I would not have my Contour now if it weren't for this list. Sorry for the rant...but I just finished reading a bunch of posts about guys with dead engines at low mileage and it reminded me of all the troubles I have had with my Contour...I feel like **** now. mad

Later guys...I have to get back to reading my VW brochures. wink

The Contour and Mystique in turn were priced below the Taurus, which eroded profits on the high confused content cars.
