Hey SE MI CEG'ers,

Can anyone tell me what the legal amount of tint in Michigan is? And assuming that the answer isn't what I want to hear, how much is everyone running and have you ever been harrassed by the cops for it?

And if you have any suggestions for install shops, let me know those too. I'm in A2. Thanks!!

Well to my knowledge your only allowed to have a 4" strip along the front two windows and same for a sun band across the windshield. The back windows and rear window doesnt matter. and the darkness of the tint doesnt matter i believe, but dont quote me on that. I may be wrong. I havent been harrassed at all and i have the front windows completely tinted with 20% and sunband of about 8". hope this helps.

Well u can put whatever tint u want on the back three windows but on the two front doors windows its ilegal unless u only do the bottom six inches.

I have the back three on mine limo and the two front windows 35% no problems with the cops yet

I just got a doctors not from a friend that works at DOC...Its time to black out my front windows...Does anyone have a doctors note, and if so, do the cops still write you tickets??

alright heres the deal from what I've been told... after all ive only had my car since may 4th and since ive gotten 8 tinted windows tickets. You can have up to i beleive four inches on the front windshield and four or six inches from the top on the two drivers windows. The back can be whatever you want. As far as doctors notes work, nope. You have to get a certain form filled out from secretary for statef and then have a doctor fill that out and send it out to the main office. If you have a written note on a prescription pad like I did, It will get you off many tickets , but, theres those cops who do know the law, like those 8 that gave me tickets. I suggest if you want your front windows tinted, go to an Eye doctor, pay them for the exam, usually around 40, and tell him/her everytime you drive in the daylight you get a head ach or you start feeling sleepy, at least whats what friends of mines have said and got the note. I hope to clear everones questions.

O yea, and I still havent taken my front tint off, i just made them lighter. Since ive only been pulled over three times in about 4 months and all of them let me go but they all say it better be off by the next time they see me. Most cops dont say anything about the front windshield tint... I have 12 inches on my front windshield, and i've only gotten a warning about it twice.

Yeah, I know the form you were talking about. I went to the secretary of state yesterday and asked if there was I way I could get it posted on my license and they gave me a little form to have filled out by an eye doctor..Now I just have to con my friend into having the doctor fill it out for me..
