I had a similar situaton with my Contour where I have an 8 year old riding in the pass seat sometimes. So I just put a toggle switch onto the airbag fuse under the dash (along with an inline fuse instead), and the toggle, when off, deactivates the entire airbag system. Then when you turn the toggle 'on' you get normal function of the system. And the toggle just hides below the dash in an inconspicuoius location. Now I'm sure there are more elaborate, time consuming methods to deactivation on specific sides and doing so without having the airbag light blink, but I was not worried much about that. The blinking airbag light was just a reminder to turn the switch back on for when the kid was not in the car. BUT, if a person really wanted to just have the pass side unit shut off (with no airbag light), then you COULD just do the previously mentioned fix from FORD or whatever, with the resistor mounted into a double throw toggle that, when you turn the toggle to deactivate, it would remove the pass side airbag actuator from the circuit, and the other throw of the switch would simultaneously connect the resistor into the circuit, simulating the load of the servo actuator, so the airbag light wouldn't trip. Possible yes. May take a couple more hours to add than the first mod I mentioned.
