I lived in the suburbs of detroit(Novi to be specific) and am now living in Sault Ste Marie, Mi attending classes at LSSU. Yes they are summer classes, I gotta get this gen ed stuff out of the way. Anyways, thats a 325 mile drive, takes about 5 hours goin speed limit. I enjoy driving the contour on these long trips. Nice smooth ride. Made me appreciate the contour much more over the past year. Oh and whoever made the suggestion of putting the wrench on the oil plug and tapping with a hammer, thank you. Don't know why I didn't think of it myself!

I usually put the wrench on my oil plug and hang off it...works like a charm I found the 723mile trek to michigan and back was not bad at all in the SVT. I did not feel like I was in the car for 11 hours!

The Contour is an awesome road tripping car. Sometimes I think the car is too stiffly suspended in daily driving, but get her up beyond 60 mph (80+ is good), and road imperfections melt away.
I've done 12 hr days in the SVT...what efficient high-speed transportation!

i absolutely love my contour se still after 14-15 months of driving....its gets almost weekly round trips on the freeway of 250-300 and loves it even if feeling sluggish in the city on the highway it just goes and goes and goes...although now it does need some downtime for maintainance i have gotten my money's worth for this car however, ford's lack of service is just too much to take and when its time to buy another car it will not be a ford im afraid

I heard putting coke(coca-cola not cocaine) on stuck bolts will help loosen them. Contours are goood.

I do at least two drives from here to MI every year (10 - 13 hrs depending on destination). The current plan is to have the car in MI 5 times this year (SZ, 2 weddings, "Winter Bash" in Interlochen and "Backwoods Bash" in White Cloud). I'm doing two in the next 6 weeks. I did one two days after taking delivery of the car. I absolutely love taking this car on highway trips. Been to 2 Indy 500s in it. Taken it to Boston. Driven it to Liberty State Park and midtown Manhattan. All over Maryland. Athens, OH the day McGuire hit 62. Cedar Point. Ocean City, MD. Atlantic City. Going to Camden Yards on Sunday. The only places I've been since I bought this car that I didn't take it to was Las Vegas and Los Angeles. And that trip via car is in the plans someday. The best part of the Philly - MI drive is hitting the MI border. Going from strong fear of the OH State Patrol and their laser guns to 70 MPH speed limit with traffic moving at 80 - 90. I click off those miles pretty easily.
