In March I did a two day driving school sponsored by SVTOA So Cal Chapter and SCCA and on June 9th I did an open track event sponsored by SVTOA So Cal. Both events were at California Speedway in Fontana. Unfortunately I only got one run in during the Open Track event because my water pump died.

We owned a car dealership (Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Citroen, and an occasional Bertone). Grew up in SCCA with both my grandfather and father being SCCA drivers. My father was also an instructor. My father 'retired' when he was in his mid-50's. I've done my fair share of racing at Mid-Ohio and Nelson Ledges, as well as doing some oval racing.
The biggest problem with learning and knowing how to drive is dealing with those that don't (95% of everyone else on the public roadways)!
I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby. There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there. You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one. How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have? You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!

My 17th birthday present was a 3 day course at Bertil Roos Racing School. It was awesome. Taught me alot about the correct lines through corners and how to control a car.

I just did a day with the Evolution Performance Driving School. This is mainly for Auto-X (which I do) but can help anyone. I drove a Focus because my CSVT has a bad wrist pin and is getting fixed. Josch, Try the DC area SCCA for Auto Cross. A whole lot of fun and no chance of getting a ticket

Multiple SVTOA Track events, Saab Viggen Flight Academy (at Road Atlanta). Looking forward to more. Hopefully I'll do a road racing school in the near future.

Josch, Try the DC area SCCA for Auto Cross. A whole lot of fun and no chance of getting a ticket Thanks for the tip. I just might do that! But did you mean the BC area (British Columbia)? I am in Washington State

Advanced driving school weekend for past 3 years with the local BMW club (BMW clubs generally accept non-BMW's; Porsche clubs generally don't). Highly recommended, and if you do it with a club then a lot cheaper than with a commercial school. Eric
