I've just joined as part of my research into what I might be in for with the purchase of an SVT. I munched my V6 Alfa (which I loved) yesterday and now am in semi desparate need of transportation (but no boring cars!) I test drove a new SVT shortly after they came out and was really impressed, but decided I couldn't afford it (and it was going to be the wife's car--she wouldn't have appreciated it anyway). I distinctly remember thinking that this is as close to a modern Alfa as I'm likely to get. So now that I need something I'm remembering that thought. I found one in the area that I'm interested in. My questions are:
What should I look for?
What should I ask?
Is there a recall list somewhere that I can check out?
Does this seem like a good price?
Has anyone put 200K miles on an SVT yet?
Is it nuts to buy one with 107K?
I've read all about the engine/transmission problems and I have to admit that I'm a little bit uncomfortable with the potential for diaster. (but I just came from an Alfa...How bad could it be?)
Is there a point in it's life where you can figure that if it was going to happen, it would have already, or is the potential for lubrication related failures always out there?
How would you experts handle it?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
