Hi Everyone, I am kind of new here. When is the next Event in KC. I went to the Auto X event at Arrow Head and had a blast. I did not race though. I did not want to embarrass myself. I missed the other Red SVT that was out there. I wish I had seen it race, I know that would of been cool. I have a 99 Red SVT I have owned since new. I would just like to get more involved with the fun people around here. Thanks, Dave.

Next time, don't be afraid of being embarrassed. Every single driver out there had never done it at some point and every one of them are better now than they were then. Not to mention that at any given event there are a handful of people who ARE doing it for the first time and I bet you can't spot them as easily as you think. Tell people it's your first time and you'll get as much help as you care to listen to.

We had an odd year with so many events in June. One every weekend! THey're spread out a lot more from here on out. The rest of the year's schedule looks like this:

7/21 SCCA #5 Heartland Park
7/28 Crown #4 Woodlands (KC LX and I won't be there)
8/11 Crown #5 GSA (Bannister and Troost...won't be there either)
8/18 SCCA #6 Arrowhead, not to be missed (but we will, out of the country)
8/24 and 8/25, Kansas City Championships, Woodlands, a non-points event "grudge match", must run both days to qualify
9/2 (labor day Monday) Crown #6, Woodlands
9/22 Crown #7 Woodlands (KC LX is chairperson of the event...count on another fast one)
10/6 SCCA #7 Woodlands
10/13 Crown #8 Woodlands
10/27 SCCA #8 Woodlands

I'm new here to the Group but have been looking at the site for a year and would like more info on the Auto-X and how to get involved. A couple of questions...... Do you have to have a real race machine or can bone stock Contours and Mystiques run. I'm tired of zipping around town looking for civics and other imports to race point A- point B.
For those of you in the area of shawnee you may have seen my Pacific Green 96 Mystique it has SVT exhaust and a white Mystique decal on the front and Sony Mobile and JCWhitney Sport Compact Decals on the Side Rear windows. Im having tires mounted with wheels.....TSW Euraces with Capital tires. But I'm looking for some fun and want to meet others with Contours and Mystiques. I hope you guys can find room for a mystique in your group Pics coming soon!!

Did you buy your SVT exhaust locally? If I remember correctly, I think you may have bought mine?

Either way, welcome. smile

We are due for another get together, and no offense to you Auto X die hards, but maybe something other than an Auto X event this time?

Like Outlawd said, this weekend is out for us, off to the National meet in Dallas. The next weekend is the 4th of July weekend, so we probably wouldn't get a very good turnout, maybe the weekend of the 13th or the 20th?

Its an idea, anybody is welcome tp organize something and more than likely people will show up. "If you organize it, they will come" smile

I'm sorry that was cheesy, but I couldn't resist! laugh

You can race a bone stock car like a lot of other people do, all you need is a valid drivers license, a helmet (loaners are available), and a car that passes a safety inspection. Battery must be secure, wheels and tires in good shape, seatbelts good, brake pedal firm, all loose objects removed from the car. For more info see these local sites

www.kcrscca.org and www.crownautocross.org

or these national sites

www.scca.org and www.autocross.com

By the way I think I've seen you at the car wash on SMP a couple times.

Excellent, I was begining to lose hope that I would ever get to hear my old exhaust system on your car. So I'm glad to see you signed on!

What size TSWs do you have to mount? Just did a search and those should look good on your car, can't wait to see them. smile

You may have seen pictures of my car, it looks a bit different since you saw it last summer. smile

Look forward to meeting you again, and hearing the SVT exhaust on your car! laugh And I think we need a Mystique to diversify our group a little.

Don't let that bother you--I embarass myself every week but I'm having so much fun burning all that adrenaline I really don't care. Example: Last weekend (6/23/02) I did (at least) a full 360 on my first run and took out 3-4 cones on a DNF. I was giving a ridealong and wasn't concentrating enough...rear end got loose on some hard braking and just SNAP, came around--no excuses, I just blew it; still had FUN tho! The passenger got REALLY wide eyed . laugh laugh laugh

Auto-x is about 70% driver and 30% ride, so once you get some seat time you'll be amazed at some of the expensive iron you'll start knocking off (time wise).

Come back out to the next event and get some ride-alongs. You won't be sorry!
