A few of us reportedly lifted a rear wheel off the ground while autoxing today. Our cars have IRS rather than beam axles, so how does this happen? My only guess is because of the rear sway bar, but that's just a guess. Can anyone enlighten me?

I wish I could get more specific on your question, but all I know is that the car is tight and when all the momentum is shifted to one side and there ya go.

One of Donna's favorite pics is of her lifting a rear wheel in her (now my) '96 LX V6 ATX. Quite an accomplishment for such an understeering pig. The reason they lift the rear wheel is because the rear end is already at full extension but the outside front corner is in full compression. Full compression on the front is more than full extension on the rear so it picks up the corner with the least loading on it.

Here are a couple of pics of Marla trying to get that wheel off the ground. Sorry, my camera was not fast enough to get it on camera frown

Sorry about the size, just too lazy to resize them wink
Next time I will use a different mode on the camera to try to get a frame by frame action shot!
A big thanks to OutlawdSVT!!!! He was a huge part of the great turnout of Contours at the track!

Thanks for posting those pictures; they turned out really well! You must have a decent zoom on your camera.

The lag time between pressing the button and the camera actually taking the picture make it tough to get good action photos. Another friend of mine (in the black WRX from heat 1) tried to take some pictures and I looked like a blurry red toy car.

MFE - thanks for the explanation - that makes perfect sense!
