Alright guys, i've tried every forum on this topic, and all i get is mixed opinions. So far, you guys seem to know what you're doing and connect with me the best, so ill get you guys' opinions. Ok, help me here. I wanna stay cheap. Now, i have an idea just out of what i've read, so tell me how this would work (remember i have a 2.5 duratec stock). OK, start with replacing the stock muffler with a flowmaster series 40. Then, apparently, if i remove the resonator, the flowmaster will eliminate any rasp from the lack of the resonator. Does this make any sense?

K...this is just what i've HEARD man...But i've heard that the Flowmaster Exhaust is a little tooo much for the Countours...meaning it will sound like a TUFF old mustang...JUST WHAT i HEARD! and then taking the resenator off...that will make it even louder...
Of course this is all secondary info...but i think it's correct...
Personally...i'm thinking about getting one of these two.... CAT_BACK
Hope that helped!

Rasp will only last for about 5 minutes untill the engine/piping warms up. I think alot of people have had good results eliminating rasp by swaping the resonator (bullet or edelbrock) and then removing the exhaust...hope that helped.

Oh yeah, IMHO removing the resonator will NOT make the car too loud or drone excessively! If it's too loud your too old!! laugh

Buy an SVT exhaust for your car and leave it stock (keep the resonator). I happen to even know of one for sale if you can talk one of the guys coming this way for SZ to haul it back from my place. $120 is asking price on it. It's currently in two pieces for shipping purposes.
