Wellllll.... posting this in the general forum and I hope nobody takes offense.

I have had my 02 Mondeo MK3 for 2 1/2 months and 9300 kms now and I have had a few issues with it - fortunately all of them cosmetical, not technical.

Tomorrow I get 3 windows replaced that have the wrong (too light) tint to them. It took Ford a full two months to get the replacement parts in (for a new car ... duh!)

And both bumpers and some other painted trim parts will be repainted at the expense of Ford. Both bumpers start peeling their paint at the upper edge where they touch the sheetmetal. The trim parts are way off color, that should be fixed too.

And the dark gray coating of a trim part inside the drivers door is peeling off, too.

Yet, my new Mondy handles like a charm, really. At 200 kph it rides quieter and firmer than my old 98 Mondeo did at 160. If just you could go that fast on our Autobahns any more... It is still perfectly legal, but usually traffic just won't permit it.

Here are some current pics... Not very fancy, but they give you a good impression of the car.

I can still consider myself lucky, though. A friend of mine has a new (2 months) old Focus and was offered a COMPLETE repaint for the car. He will try to return the car to Ford. The car was painted twice at the assembly plant, with no (or insufficient) preparation prior to the second coat of paint. He now has several spots on the car where the top coat (silver + clearcoat) peels off and the glossy bottom coat (silver + clearcoat) shows through... Also a lot of small imperfections (around 30-40) in the "factory" paint job. The second coat was obviously applied at the plant, before final assembly. There is no indivcation of an accident or anything that happened after the car was delivered.

Still, if that's all the problems you've had (purely cosmetical...)

I wish Ford Europe would come to America and fix things up around here!

(In the year I've had this car, I've replaced the muffler/exhaust, tie rods, fuel pump, and brake rotors; and I'm still under 40K miles. Other CEGers have similar horror stories with their car's durability.)
