Here is the background on my car: I got a new engine put in 7000 miles ago. About 3000 miles ago I hear a strange noise that sounds like an exhaust leak, so I pop my hood and the spark plug for cylinder #1 is just sitting there very loose, the mechanic who fixed my engine came out and put the plug back in. Today the same thing happens, I pop my hood and the damn thing is not all the way in the cylinder.

I don't have the right socket extensions to get the right angle to put the damn thing in, so once again I have to get a mechanic to do it.

So what I am asking is whether or not this is the mechanics fault for not putting it in right, or if it could be a problem with the parts?

Any help is appreciated.

I'm still confused though, no anti-seize compound was used, could this be why the spark plugs are blowing out?

Sounds like your mechanic might have stripped the socket in the head.

I agree with Mike. I did it myself unfortunately. Aluminum head and the plug sits down far. I had a helicoil put in the head with a diferent size plug. Cost about $80 I think. No problems but I'd make the mechanic put in a new head since it's not your fault.
