that part is called the evr,egr vacum regulator.
available at any ford dealer. the presure sensor is called the dpfe and has hoses running to the egr tube that goes from the rear exhaust manifold to the egr valve. trust me i am a tech at a ford dealer and have replaced dozens of each part.

Well, if that's the case, the Ford DVD is hard to tell with the "nice" black and white MSPaint pictures. If I could have seen that it only had 2 connectors instead of what I saw was the DPFE (3-wire) I would have ruled it out.

The EVR only has two wires and is just a vacuum regulating selenoid.

I stand corrected.

And, the IRC server is still brokeazz for not just me. Can anyone else get in the IRC server without it saying "bad password" ? I know of myself and other people that can't get in.

The part is definitely an EVR (EGR vacuum regulator) and NOT a DPFE. I bought one yesterday for $25.63 ($26.78 w/ tax) from a local dealer. It is a Ford-only part. Part # for my car was F63Z-9J459-AA.

It is part of the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system, which is used to recirculate some of the exhaust back into the engine to be burned up (for emissions).

It regulates the amount of vacuum that goes to the EGR valve (the silver thing that looks like a flying saucer smile ). The vacuum in turn is used to open the EGR valve and let exhaust gas into the engine. Lack of vacuum releases and thus closes the EGR valve.

If it isn't working properly, a CEL code 401 or 402 will probably be thrown in the next few drive cycles.

Duratec V6 2.5L 24-valve DOHC

No Mods (unless you call the DMD a mod)
Replaced EGR valve (gunked up), EVR (EGR VR), PCV valve, and evaporative emissions hose (cracked).
