i'm replacing all four brakes this weekend with the budget kit from BAT (basic rotors and mintex a/f pads). any suggestions/things to look out for? the haynes manual seems rather minimal and i've only done gm truck brakes before.

Get some Permatex Disk Brake Quiet to spray the backs of the pads, and get Permatex Ultra Disk Brake Caliper Lube to grease the slide pins.

Is Haynes a good service manual or is there a better one?
Off topic...
Sorry

I'm a high school student with little to no money. I have a 98 Contour SE w/ 2.5L 24v V6 w/ 100k miles. I'd like to make some cheap performance upgrades <$1000 or so. I only spent 4k on the car. Mainly, I HATE Honda Civics and I want to blow them away. I usually can anyways! Any suggestions please e-mail me. devonb_37@hotmail.com

Thank You

spmotorsports and BAT sells them (SP gets theirs from BAT). you could also just go down to your local auto parts store and pick up a set of bendix pads. they're not too bad for the price.

Asking that question here (which someone has, a lot of times) will get you mixed results.. Here is a SEARCH result for "Haynes"..

Chilton\'s or Haynes

Haynes is good for brakes. It really is as easy as they make it seem. The only thing that might get you in trouble is getting the old rotors off. Mine were very stubborn. The other big tip I have is to do one wheel without disturbing the other. That way, you can check to see how everything goes back together. You don't have to, but it's probablty a good time to flush the old brake fluid while you are down there as well.

Might have a problem getting the rears off. I had to use an impact wrench to get those torx bolts off. Why Ford used them there is more than I'll ever know. Why isn't this in brakes area? confused
