this idea you may already know or hate or like or just dont care but any way while i was walking throught a salvage yard yesterday i noticed that a mystique had a busted tail light. but it wasnt totaly busted the outside red lens was busted but the inside clear lens was fine. so i bought two like this and with dremmel in hand began cutting. the indie lens is not as big as the out side lens leaving about a 1/2 inch of red lens at the top of the assembly that curces to the bottom 1/4 pane area of the assembly. there is a dark red line that is visible this what i cut on. but the inside lens dose go all the way to the bottom. this does leave a gap that i filled in with bondo(around the red area) and sanded to meet the cut line. i also cut a small chaneel in the bondo to but a cahrom trim ring around the remainder of the red lens. next the bottom of the assembly there will be about a 1/4 inch inset now that this done i put a thin layer on bondo on this also to gove a finshed look . next i tapped tha clear lens and painted the whole thing except the stainless piece at the bottom. the result is that the remaing red is now the coolor of my car and it actully looks like a aftermarket company made them. well ok there not that perfect but they look good any way. and total cost with sand paper, bondo, paint, clear coat, lens, and chrome trim (that thin chrome doorgaurd stuff thats flexible)was $40.00 i not completely finished i still have one lens to paint but if anyone wnats pictures i will be happy to email them. Note cost for lens do vary from junkyard to junkyard but busted lens are ussally really cheap and deffintly try this on a pair of junk lens not the ones on your car. i hope this hlps some folks
sorry about spelling
