Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums General General High mount 3rd brake light getting to hot?

I went to replace my high mounted third brake light bulds today and noticed something strange. You know the piece that holds the bulds, well it was cracked and some of the bulbs had burns threw the glass of the bulbs. One bulb actually melted part of the plactic that was holding it in! Has this happend to anyone else? The ford parts dept just said "wow never seen that" Should I be worried here?

I know this won't help but..... I've never seen that before. I would check the voltage to the wires and make sure you don't have a short somewhere.

Do you have the small-ish one that does not touch the glass with only 7 bulbs? Or do you have the larger one that comes with a black boarder around it on the window with 9 bulbs?

Mine has five bulbs in it. They replaced them all and I was just looking at the bill.
