This weekend I am driving to Phoenix and was wondering if there are any roads worth taking. I am starting in Santa Monica. I don't want to go 10 hours out of the way (I think its suppose to take like 5-6), but on the other hand I don't mind having a little fun along the way. If anyone knows of anything good out there between here and there I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I think you pretty much stuck, nuttn much but a few casinos and a bunch of desert.

After HS when I moved to Phx to goto ASU (go devils!) we (me & a freind) kinda took a small detour and went to Vegas. It added quite a bit to our drive but it was way fun.

I think your only stop might be somthing like blyth?

I dunno, I don't really go mutch to AZ any more... to hot

i agree dave..it is way too hot!!! when i was there last year it was 130 degrees at the airport!!!

as far as the drive, its all boring, straight roads. watch out for the chp...including planes!!! i have seen a few. my fastest time is 9 hours from sf through la into az.

You aren't missing a dam thing. There are no speed limits out here, just speed suggestions. There aren't enough officers to patrol the expressways. 80 mph is the average 90 not a problem but try to stay under 100. And remember it's a dry heat. Yeah right. Sorry to butt in guys. There is no AZ branch and you are closest. Hope you don't mind.

Ok, this is what u can do. Stop by The BoB Bondurant School of High Performance Driving when u get to Phoenix. Just go in and ask for a Hot Lap in one of the "Contour SVT Instructor Cars", u will get the ride of your life. I used to be an instructor there in 1995 to 1997. Oh ya, also get a hot lap in a new "Cobra-Vic" instructor car. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh
