We are going to need somewhere to post if contour.org doesn't make it. Should we consider creating a alt.autos.ford.contour usenet newsgroup? I know it is a pretty intense process, but I don't think we should have any problem getting one started. What do you guys think?

There used to be a CDW-27 newsgroup, but it was barely used. It's probably been dropped by now.

edit: Nope, still there on groups.google.com. alt.autos.ford.cdw-27

And the mailing list is still alive and kicking.

I just noticed that group also. But as you say, it seems to be empty, and as you probably agree, does not have a very good name, thus lowering its chances to be noticed by other Contour enthusiasts.

I run a domain right now www.thewin.org. It gets absolutely zero traffic. I would be more then happy to put some Forums up for the Contour guys if contour.org goes down.

What kind of connection do you have? Enough to legally handle ~100 GB of data transfer per month? Have a gig of hard drive space for the forums themselves? If so, Lance Kinley might be interested in speaking to you.

Well, I dont know the exact specifics of the company. But Im sure they run on multiple T1/T3 lines, if not fiber-optic. The companys name is Cyberwings. So far they have proved to be very fast and reliable for me. I also know a few other people who have hosting plans through them. Since my site is generating very little traffic right now Im only paying for a 6gb per month transfer limit with 120mb hdd space. Their rates are VERY cheap for low traffic domains or high traffic domains. Their most expensive AYW hosting plan is $155 per year and that includes:

144gb per month bandwidth (I read contour.org is only using around 100gb per month)
72 databases
full dns rights
650mb disk space (this should cover the size of the database)
72 subdomains

This should easily be enough to host contour.org. If more is needed, I know they will work with you to get you what you need. $155 would not be hard to raise from donations. It would only be a matter of transfering the site over to their servers.

www.cyberwings.com
Their large scale hosting plans / rates can be found here
