There doesn't need to be a student makeover thank you. laugh

With some Bosch Plus 4's, Ford Racing 9mm's, a K&N and an exhaust mod (thank you for posting the link to the Taurus Club) and of course some tinted windows, I could have a semi-sleeper Taurus. Not to mention the road trips with my fraternity brothers would be a lot more comfortable!

a few things i did to my old taurusaurus were to add new motor mounts, added monroe heavy duty struts (sho)and hr speed rated tires

i was less of a car dude than i am now and im not a car guy at all still really but those changes made quite a difference in responsiveness and highway driving....its almost amazing how those things translate to power to the road

and i didn't even know about filter, exhaust and intake mods when i had it...not that there were many if any...if it didn't get to the point of being too old i'd still be driving it and putting the smack down in the taurusaurus


95 contour se...dark blue...monsterflow air filter...remanuf atx...wiring harness recall or bust!!!96k miles...motorcraft awsf32pp plugs & red ford racing 9mm wires...kvr black plated cross-drilled rotors & carbon fiber pads...currently undergoing renovation...excuse our dust!!!

The engine situation with the Taurus is craziness. The Taurus, which mentioned before, is a much larger car than the Contour, comes standard with a weaker engine than the Contour does, standard. And it does NOT like to go close to 3,000 RPM, so it's acceleration isn't very good. My mom bought one last year, a 2001 SES, which is one of the higher models, it's the next step down from the top-of-the-line SEL. It came with a 2v Vulcan. My ford Probe had more Valves than this car. I don't understand why a car, which is $22,000, comes with such a crappy engine. It should be standard with the 200 hp engine. And the shifter is really wierid, too. It goes, P,R,N,O.D.,D,1. Why is there no 2?? How often do people go into 1? And snince it doesn't like to go near 3,000 RPM, I put it into 1, and at about 3,5000 or 4,000 RPM, I switch to drive and it will completely skip second gear. What a headache. I would only buy a Taurus (vs. my Contour) only if it had the Duratech and a spoiler...

I own a 98 Mystqiue (wife's zetec ATX) and a brand new Taurus (SES Sport edition, fully loaded). I love my new Taurus, it is much faster, roomier, you name it. I am not as much of a fan of the Gen 3's but some of them are not too bad wink I don't feel like I have to worry about looks, I LOVE the looks of mine... the Sport edition sets it apart a little bit wink I was going to get an SEL, but fell in love with the Sport edition. The Mystique does have a stiffer suspension, so the handling is quite a bit different. I love driving them both, although I does miss the power when I am in the Mystique... oh and the stereo laugh The Vulcan is probably a tad slower than a Duratec Tour though, but shouldn't be too bad.

keep the tour, more fun, handles better quicker, stops better, it just lacks the room or the taurus.
we had the vulcan v6 in a 94 tempo, before our S2 ZX3. it flew in that little car, could have easily buried the speedo, 200km/h, i had it up to 190 and its scary.


speed is adictive, the faster you go the more you want.
