Went to Fry's and they had expensive ones to cheaper ones. I don't know that many brands or what is good. Most were 40x Read 10x write. The one I looked at was by Pacific Digital for $40 (after mail-in rebate of course). Also, they had Que (?), Sony, Memorex, TDK, and Cendyne. Any recommnedations as to what I should be looking for? Looking to spend $50-75.

Check your local Staples. They have a Cendyne 32x10x40 CDRW drive for $89 - $50 rebate = $39. SOME Cendynes are essentially rebadged Lite-on drives (which are very popular drives). Check this thread for more info...you can get this drive for 19.99 + tax if your play your cards right (i checked my local Staples, they had 4 of these drives, but they ended up not being the Lite-on drives, they were Aopen, so i decided not to buy it now). Make sure you get a Lite-on/Verbatim/Mitsumi drive...not anything else (you must read the serial #'s very carefully). If you want the $20 off 100 coupon for Staples PM me. There is also another deal at CompUSA for an external firewire drive (great for portability) for $20 or less. Check this thread for more info. Stock of this drive is limited and Id be wary of CompUSA rebates. Here are some other deals: Samsung for $30 at Best Buy Cendyne on clearance for $20 @ SOME OfficeMax stores As you might be able to tell...I am looking for a cheap CDRW drive too. Im going to be patient though, I will wait months if i have to for Lite-on at a good price.

Remember, you get what you pay for! If you want to make a bunch of coasters, then buy a cheap burner. If you want to make good copies and good data/backup discs, then spend some money and buy a good burner. Some things you just don't skimp on, and a CD-RW is one of them. Buy a Plextor and you will never be sorry! TDK would be my second choice.

TDK would be my second choice. agreed, but the new burners use Burnproof technology too - the DVD burners are out now, which is lowering the cost on the CDR writers!!! the LiteOn will burn at 40x without making coasters!
