I have a couple of questions concerning my moonroof.
Does anyone know why when the moonroof is fully open and the open button is pressed again, the roof opens another 1/2 inch or so? Is this suppose to happen and if so, why?

Has the motor been replaced recently? It sounds like it wasn't installed correctly. I don't quite understand your statement about the moonroof being fully open and then opens more. Are you talking about when it tilts up? It can only slide back so far... Anyways... the motor should be installed with the glass in the closed position. You might have to play with the motor positions to get it to work properly when you install it, but once you are done, it should open fully with the button, close fully when you press the button, and then tilt fully when when you press it the same way again. So, if your roof doesn't close all the way the first time you press the button, leave it where it stops, then uninstall the motor, crank the roof closed by hand (pliers/vicegrips...etc...), and then re-install the motor, and it should work properly.

Mine does this too. When you open the moon roof all the way (not tilt) it goes to a certain point then stops. If you hit the open button one more time, the moon roof moves another half inch, like it wasn't finished. I always wondered about this too. I think I've seen a few posts on this issue before. I can't remember if it's supposed to do it or not though.

the best way to describe what he is talking about is when you open your moonroof you hold down the switch until the moonroof stops opening (this would be the full open position you would think) but if you let go of the switch and press it down again (the same way) it will go back about another 1/2 inch or so. sort of like when you close it you hold the switch until it closes and then if you let go and press again it will open up the other way except this is opening more the same way. as for the question I think everyboduys does it (mine does) and I dont think anybody ever figured out if it was good or bad to do it (some people said it had something to do with wind noise I think and other people said dont do it because it will kill your moonroof motor. so who know.

I used to open it up that extra inch too when I had my CSVT. And I also had the moonroof motor replaced in about 2 1/2 years. So take it for what its worth. I personally think it shortened the life of my motor.

Done that way on purpose. Does sort of have something to do with wind noise, but I think it is also for servicing of the track etc.

I believe it may have something to do with the realys that that cut the power in one direction which stops the roof. I think it may even be a safety feature to help the longevity of the roof... Not sure thats just my hunch.

When I open mine that extra 1/2 inch I can almost hear something binding if I let it stop again on its own. So to avoid this, I simply try to stop it before it bottoms out. I like the look, because all the glass is hidden inside the roof.
BTW, haven't had a problem yet, but like I said I can hear somthing biding up if I let it bottom out. Other than that, its runs very smooth.

i dont mean to take over this post, but im having moonroof problems, too. my moonroof motor just died. i think the relay went bad in it. if there is anyone selling a working motor for a good price, drop me a PM cuz im looking for one.
when it was working though, i had a problem with it when closed. at about 55 mph +, it would start making bad wind noise, and the back of it would lift up almost an inch (like it was tilting up regularly). i even have a wind guard in front of the moonroof, and it still does this. anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

don't keep pressing it back that extra half inch, your motor will "jam" eventually. make sure you don't press the button the same way twice, only press it once. there is a way to fix this if jams, but not permanently that i know of. it involved taking down the map light cover and loosening and then tightening the bolts holding the motor to the roof.
