I had an estament(can't spell) done to have my hood fixed after hitting a deer the other night... Guy says I need a new hood... $313 was the cheapest he could find, that was aftermarket, Ford OE hood was $450... So going with the aftermarket hood, it would cost me $650 to have that done, and $1500 for all of it, that includes the hood... Anyone know of a better idea? I could go hoodless like some ricers??? By the way, the $1500 was for new hood, blending the fenders, new headlight, new coner lamp, new license plate bracket, and fixing the bumper(just needs to be painted) Anyone know of a cheaper way I could do this? Without turning it over to insurance...

Thanks in advance

I was thinking junkyard too... But with my luck all the contours in the junkyards would be missing their hoods lol I may go ahead with the aftermarket, the guy said it was exactly like the OE hood... I am really not worried about the rest, I can fix the light myself, but I like the way it looks without the lens over the corner lamp... So I may just rip the other off :p

Bill Jenkins can get you a hood for about 360 +30 shipping(IIRC). But shop in the junk yards you can find some hoods.

Check here-Click on the magnifyng glass This should do a search closest to your area.

if you turned it over to insurance, wouldn't you only have to pay the deductible and thus save you from paying the entire $1500?
(sorry to assume that you have a lower than 1500 deductible or any deductible if that's the case).

How hard is a hood to put on? It seems like you might could do that yourself. You could probably do the new license plate bracket as well. Here in south georgia, the junkyards will get parts for you even if they don't have them. Check a junkyard. Or maybe just put a heavy duty tarp over the engine and duct tape it down.

Putting a hood on is easy. I take mine off and put in on all the time. It's just getting it painted and blended that is the problem. Also if you have any other damage that is the problem.

I could easily put the hood on myself, fix the light, the grill all of I can do, except paint it, that's where all the money is going... I am off sunday and monday, so I may just go shopping for a hood... My deductible is only $250, but the car is in my dads name and his insurance, I just make all the payments... It's cheaper for me this way, working at Wal-Mart doesn't exactly pay the best... So he wanted to keep the insurance company out of it... I'll try to talk him into turning it into the insurance company, just tell them he was driving...
