Yeah flummox brought the Caprice, but should have brought the SVT.

So, the wheelspin on the rear, well there is your answer!
Oooooohh, wheelspin on the rear of a CSVT, just imagine

lcheney - you have a blue SHO right? I saw yours run. I think I have it on tape too, I didnt realize it was you though, I thought you had a newer one, like a 94 (I think), the ones with the kits

I dont think you understand.....he had front wheelspin, but his rear end was bouncing
I didnt mean to put it all in one sentence, I should have said:
You had a lot of wheelspin. You also had a lot of bounce in your rear wink

Actually, it's a black '92, with 3-spoke wheels and 12" front brakes; the paint needs some work so it might have looked more grey-blue. The '92s have the 'newer' body style (looks like a '94). Does that fit the description? (I've never seen another SHO out there, oddly enough).

Probably couldn't hear my car -- I was next to some guy in an older dodge something-or-other (I think) with a blower. But it (my car) probably made some pretty odd noises at around the 200' mark when the computer shut off (sputter sputter).

It would have been ~5:25, I think. Car 4104.

It'd be cool if you had it on tape. Let me know-

If I can get off early again I will take some runs in my SVT.

I want to know if I am on the video. Curious to see how much tire spin I really had.

Even with the crappy traction I had in the Caprice, it still was fun. Heck spinning the tires quite a bit and still pulled to over 90mph is not that bad.

Actually, just FWIW -- spinning the tires at the launch doesn't end up changing the trap speed very much. I did an experiment when I lived up in Idaho (and frequented the drag strip far too much). Start (easy) in 1st, shift at ~3000 RPM into *3rd*, and then pull to the finish line. The ET sucks (like 18 or 19-something) but the MPH was almost the same (~90 vs. 92 normally at that elevation).

Spinning the tires hurts your ET a lot, but your trap speed is based on the the square root of the integration of wheel torque(* tire radius) over distance (work), so even if you spin your tires for 100', it's only 7% of the total distance (and you're still getting around 1/2 of the normal torque), so at most sqrt(3.5)% off. Maybe 1-2 mph, at most. (and 100' is a long ways to be spinning the tires!) Just think about it as how fast you'd be going if you only went 1280' instead of 1320' -- it's not that much different.

You learn a lot of odd things in physics. You just don't get to use them much. I'm an electical engineer for a living and I still don't use it much.

Those Caprices are pretty bad (in a good way) cars. For a big boat, they go pretty well. Of course, having a 5.7L engine never hurt anyone ;-).

http://members.fortunecity.com/fst4dr/carstuff/id4.html CB99SVT's time was 14.538sec at 94.15mph without force induction, N2O, nor 3L.

there is not a n/a svt that has run better than a 14.7 heavily modded, and you think you can do it at sac?
