SVTOA So Cal Chapter is having their second driving school event at California Speedway on March 9-10. Hey - if Willow Springs isn't too far, we figure some of you might be interested in knowing we're doing this since Fontana isn't much further!

Link to chapter website: http://www.socalsvtoa.com

There are over 250 pictures of the last event (December 15-16) up on the site.

We'll be using SCCA instructors again this time. Each instructor will have only about 4 students. This means that you can have an instructor with you in the car every time you hit the track, if you want. You can reach the instructors at www.solo2.com

In June we want to hit the infield road course. The SCCA instructors expressed some concerns about driver safety in that event, and so we are having them 'certify' the drivers at this event so that they know everybody's driving skill level before we let people out on the infield road course. Therefore, we're requiring that people who want to participate in the June event must have some sort of certification. SCCA will be issuing certificates to participants at this event, so anybody who is uncertain about their skills, or is looking at an entry level exposure to open track should come on out and play with us on March 9th, or 10th, or both.

Hope to see a lot of you there!

Jason,

If your local track event planners are giving 2 hours of seat time you're in great shape! NorCal driving clubs like Green Flag and NorCal SAAC give good bang for the buck.

In SoCal, we don't have anything that's quite so beginner friendly. We're trying to step in and provide that by having an event with a lot of seat time compared to the average autoX or the average 'On Track' like SVT might host. About the same seat time as the average open track event down here by the established groups like NASA-LA.

...But with more instruction, and slightly lower speed, and nothing to hit if you go off course. Bringing in beginners to both AutoX and open tracks while keeping the intermediate folks (and maybe even some advanced drivers like yourself) interested and happy is what it's all about.

If you have any friends who are looking for a good entry level event, by all means do us a favor and refer them...

That website again is:

Have fun!
Eric
