Because of the high amount of serious mods that can be done to a new focus zetec eg cams crankshaft, pistons, supercharger. I want to swap mine 1996 (180,000km's) for one. Is this possible and will it fit tranny (I just replaced that hunk of crap one month ago)

Nope, the Focus Zetec is the 'II Generation' of the engine.Solid tappets etc, better motor to tune (Vs VCT...ugh!).... wink

Umm, what Terry said...if you Duratec guys would ever browse the Zetec forum you'd know this already. :p We've talked about the focus engine and all its performance parts many, many, many, many, many, many times. The cost of 'dropping' a focus engine in a tour almost wouldn't be worth it, considering the Turbo we have available. wink

Although that engine DOES have a much larger aftermarket than ours.

BTW kicker,

As far as internal engine components are concerned, you can get the same/simliar stuff for our engine. Esslinger = Zetec Performance. Check out their site...cranks, cams, gears, rods, head bolts, main bolts, etc...we aren't THAT bad off that you need to turn to 'the dark side' just yet. :p

what SQ and terry said... keep what you got and build it up with the avaliable parts... there are more than enough that will work to make you faster than most of the V6 tours out there.

Someone posted a comment recently about using Bosch Platinum+4 plugs for the ZX3 Zetec in their Contour Zetec.
I questioned to myself if this was OK or not.

What do you other experts think?
confused
