if you have experienced mtx problems and engine problems with your contour/mystique (all) what is your age?
same goes for those who have experienced no problems in these areas, what is YOUR age?
lastly from an ownership standpoint, what number car is this for you?

example:
i am 48 and have had no problems with my 98 SVT.
this is my 12th car.

I'm 22 and am on my 2nd SVT and 6th viehicle. My first SVT was sold for financial reasons.

I have had no big problems with either of my contours.

I have had problems with my other cars. My first viehicle, I blew the engine becasue of a bad head gasket, due to me abusing it. I was 17.
My second viehicle, I owned for 3 years and put 130,000 miles on it, with the only problems beiing a leaky oil pan gasket and a worn out clutch at 110,000.
3rd viehicle, 2000 SVT, owned for 1 year, problems, leaky trunk seal, sticking drivers door jam switch.
4th viehicle, 1978 F-250, problems, you name it, bought it for $500 for something to do, currently it is resotred with no more problems, I still own it.
5th viehicle, 96' Dodge Ram 2500 TD, porblem, transmision shifting issues due to failure of the dealer to properly adjust throttle valve cable after replacing the transmission as part of a pre-purchase deal, I still own it.
6th viehicle, 99 SVT, problem, intermittnet stiff shifts into 2nd gear and reverse, I did the tranny cocktail now its fine, I still own it.

you also need to get mileage these things happened at.

I am 23 years old

Current car Sept 2000 to now
2000 contour SE
bought new when I was 22 68,8XX miles on it currently no MTX or engine problems with it

Prior contiques
sept 1999 - aug 2000
bought used with 24,XXX miles I think 98.5 contour SE
no MTX or engine problems in the year I drove it before my accident (at about 50,000 miles).

sometime in 1997 ? - aug 1999
95 mystique (GS ?) Parents car bought new in jan 96
Started driving this some when I was about 18 or so pretty steady before that it was my dad's commuting car when we was working farther away from home once he went back to taking the train it got passed down to the kids pretty much so this has had about 5 kids(we learned a little bit on an old truck and the tractor but had to relearn again on the car) learn how to drive stick on it and still has the orginal MTX, clutch and engine at 150,000 miles. My sister is the current driver she started driving it at 16 and my younger brother who is 16 now will most likely be taking over it this summer.

I'm 22, no problems with the 'tour, but it is my 7th vehicle.

1st - 84 E150 Van, rod knocking when I "inherited it"
2nd - 87 T'bird, 5.0...killed the engine
3rd - 89 Grand Am with the Quad4 motor..harmonic balancer blew apart and pieces went up into the motor and shot the crank to hell
4th - 91 Cougar, hit by semi..nearly totalled
5th - 94 Escort Sport, 1.9L, MTX..sold it at 145,000 miles and the guy still drives it with no problems
6th - 98 Grand Am...traded because it was slow ass 4 banger with ATX
7th - my 'tour
8th - 80 F150..hillbilly mobile for fun

no problems on either contour.
i am 24 (25 in august) and i have owned my GL since i was 20. and the GL has had the same clutch since 1997 - 85,000 miles on this clutch.

i have "owned" 1 other car not shown in my sig. 1986 Monte Carlo LS. the only consistent problems with that car were water pumps and alternators. it'd go through one of each every year.

23, all 3 of my cars have been manuals.

'90 Ranger - I beat on this like no else, never had any problems with tranny.

84' Sunbird, no problems with the 4 speed, but it dumped all its oil and then blew up.

99' SVT, no problems with tranny other than the usual notchiness when cold. Wrecked and totalled due to moronic old lady mad . Now I'm driving my dad's pimptastic 94 Voyager until I find something.
