Ford has offered to pay for half of the parts and labor so I've gone ahead with the replacing of the engine, radiator, waterpump and whatever else comes with the new engine package. Not sure if it is going to be the newer enging specs (195 or 200hp) or not I'll have to find out when I talk with the mechanic. I'm still deciding whether I will hold onto the car after the service is done. I'm not feeling to trusting of the Tour right now. Should be on the road in 3-4 weeks. Thanks banger and everyone else for your help.

wink

How much are they going to charge? Mine went out tonight. Anybody know about the price on a 3.0 engine?

Ford will not do a 3L swap. You will have get the 3.0L block prepped. Sho shop in LA area is the closest shop that can do the work or you will have to find a good mechanic that like doing custome work.

BNoon Motorsports also can prep the block and send it to you.

Welcome to the board!

If you are looking for reliability then I would not go with the 3.0 that most of the guys on this website are going with. Mt engine blew 6 months ago, and is still out of commission, so I have done plenty of research on this! If you want to talk more about this then send me an e-mail

Welcome to the group. Wish it was under better circumstances. Fords charge is around $6200 parts and labor. That is for a complete engine swap. Do you know what caused yours to blow? Where are you located?

I showed my service records and complained and Ford offered to pay half. Feel free to mention that you know someone who's 98 E1 just blew and it is being serviced at Shamrock Ford in Pleasanton. Make sure and e-mail troym@campbellco.com
and let him know yet another SVT Contour Blew up. Good luck

Car should be ready Friday. We'll see if I got the 195 or 200hp version of the 2.5 Duratec.

I am going to follow up and see if they determine why my engine blew.

The new engine will definitely be part of the 6-6.5 quarts of oil club.
