Hello all. This has been asked more than a few times, but, what is the easiest or cheapest way to squeak out another 20-25 hp from the CSVT? I already have a K&N drop in, otherwise engine is stock. On a similar performance note, can the rev limiter and fuel cut-off be raised with a chip or other? I sure would like to rev another 500rpm. Thanks.

Yes. 143mph on SVTs, 112mph on non-SVTs.

The 143mph "limiter" is nothing other than wind drag. There's no mechanical limit...although redline is not far away at 143.

No govener on CSVT that is drag limited. So if you get more hp you can go faster than that. But I am assuming not much because soon you would be rev limited.

Without a Dual Mode Damper, I wouldn't go too much higher than 7k RPM personally. 20-25 extra hp from an SVT will take extensive modifications. There aren't too many cars with a higher specific output (hp/L) than the SVT, meaning it's tuned quite well from the factory. IIRC, the highest hp from a N/A 2.5L is in the ~185 fwhp range, which is about where your extra 20 - 25 hp would put you.

I've heard about "pinning" the butterflies, but remove them? How's mpg then? Is there sufficient fuel delivery at 7500 rpm with the chip. The SVT still wants to run past the 6750 redline - oooh I hate when it shuts down on me in 3rd gear on the freeway (my SHO would run up that extra 500rpm just nice for instant passes)... so the the chip is my ticket - is there a preferred brand? thanks again.

+20-25 HP requires some careful tweaking. Several ways to go about it..I suggest
1) 7"-9" K&N filter on BAT adapter with screen ($80) 2) Custom cool air box & ducting (make it yourself) 3) Pro-M 75mm MAF meter ($175) 4) Optimize SVT throttle body and rubber air tube 5) Optimize LIM butterflies (or remove if you are good with custom dyno/laptop tuning of a chip - investigate carefully first) 6) Gut precats (free) or headers - more noise, investigate carefully first)! 7) High flow Y- pipe (get it ceramic coated!) ($250) 8) Upgrade resonator & mufflers or catback if you want to spend more ($200-$550) 9) Ford Racing wires & new plugs if you have ($65) greater than 35K miles along with new fuel filter 9) Last...Dyno tune ($100-150 per hour) with wide band monitoring A/F - custom burn a chip ($250 + custom program $125), EEC tuner ($450) best & soon avail. Apexi-SAFC ($300), Pro-M optimizer ($150) cheapest but least capability.
Above combo gives high probability of 185+ FWHP, about 20 over stock . Speed costs money..
Add Dual mode damper ($135 from THM) for reliability. Keep oil at full mark always, happy motoring!

Wow. Don't listen the GSRguy. He's clueless isn't he... 25HP from just exhaust (4-8HP), headers (6-10HP), and a drop-in (2HP) If you are lucky it might get you close to 20 crank HP with an open air filter and the best results of the other 2. ...and the SVT has a speed limiter. We won't even get into the secondary comment at this point... Yes a chip is the only way to raise the redline. Just make sure superchips has been able to do it for your specific PCM code. I think they have 100% coverage now??? Most are raised to between 7300-7500rpm
