I was wondering if anyone knew of a license plate cover that would fit onto the front license plate holder. Thank you,

I've been using clear plate covers for years. Most any will fit the same. On the Contour/Mystique I have to use 4 screws to hold it on the front because of the way the plate holder is made.

Haha, check your state to see if it's legal. In MA it's not, IIRC. (Of course, practically nothing modwise is legal in our state ...) I do know that over here tinted plate covers are Definitely illegal.

Yeah, and here it's illegal not to have a front license plate, but some go without. I don't like the tinted ones myself, but I have clear ones on both vehicles and the camper trailer. The front ones are great for keeping the bugs off the plate! -Jim

I bought a black metal lic plate frame with a clear plastic insert at AutoZone. It is the same exact size as the front lic plate holder, and fits perfectly. I also use 4 screws to hold it on.

we don't need front license plates in georgia. we don't have vehicle inspections. and in my city almost everything is "legal".. we only get occasional sound violations.. other cities not so lenient.. we can drive around here with no muffler at all and parts falling out and get away with it.

I'm almost positive it's legal here in OH because I work with people who know everything that is illegal, and they never said anything to me about the cover. But I had a hell of a time trying to find a front cover to fit on my Probe (actually, I never did find one). I assumed that I wouldn't be able to find one for my Contour. I guess I'll go to AutoZone and see what I can find. Thanks for the replies.

For the record, in New York State you may not cover your license plate with anything - not even a clear glass or plastic frame, let alone anything tinted.
I know that some officers - especially town and village cops - enjoy getting towards their ticket quotas by writing drivers up for these. I don't have a cover, so I've never had the pleasure of being on the receiving end of a ticket for this.
You can find this in Subdivision 1 of Section 402 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The state legislature has some bills in to change this section of law. Not sure they are going to go anywhere this year, though.

In Illinois, the covers are legal if they are clear and do not obstruct the plate (not dirty).

Category: You've gotta be kiddin' me! I've seen a car in the parking lot at work that had clear covers. The owner expected to keep them at least a year, I guess, because the new year stickers were outside on the cover, not on the plate! Some people! Needless to say I don't park anywhere near them!
