Is it reasonable to think Ford didn't go with a metal impeller on the Duratec water pump, was because the possibility of the drive off the cam /cylinder head breaking if the impeller got jammed in the housing? I realize the belt that drives the pump isn't under much tension, and would probably just slip, burn up or throw the belt.
I was wondering if there is an easy way to have an indicater light in the instrument cluster "LIGHT" when the temp. hits about 220 degrees? When my water pump broke, I didn't notice the temp. gauge till the needle was into the red zone. It would alert you to monitor your gauges closely.
I am sure some of the CEG engineers could tell us how it could be done. Thanks, Ed
