I just got another speeding ticket! It may be time to look at getting a grandma car or maybe a truck. Any ideas why the dealerships say SVT's aren't worth what we think they are...? How much should I be asking/taking? If anyone knows someone who wants a Black '98 SVT (with "honest to GOD" lot's of highway miles: 77000) please let them know I'm looking to get rid of mine. I don't really want to but the DMV doesn't offer many alternatives...

Have you looked into traffic school....give us a little bit of your driving history and we'll see what we can come up with as far as options. # of tickets, dates, etc. I would hate to see anyone have to get rid of a car that is so fun to drive due to tickets.

I have speeding tickets in Jan '99, Feb '99, July '99, Dec '01, and now May '02. Also I have a "failure to drive in a single lane" ticket from Sept '00, and an "amplified sound" ticket from Jan '01. Plus I have two "fix-it" type tickets on my record (one was for $700 worth of fines from my previous car, Acura Integra with red corner lights, vinyl on the front/back windshields, too dark of tint, too loud exhaust, etc. The last time I went to court the judge mentioned these and I told him that I got a more "responsible" car in the Contour. Not sure what he'll say now. Everytime I get behind the wheel I seem to think that I'm a racecar driver and I find that I am always speeding. I don't know if its just the car or if it's my mentality. I've never raced for real or anything. I'd hate to have my license suspended, again, so perhaps I should just get rid of the car and drive something less capable of quickness.

Sounds like more of an issue of 'user error' than a bad choice for vehicles. I don't mean it as a diss. Anyone who's ever seen me drive knows I like to speed, but the fact is that I'm alert, and I don't speed when I am not sure if cops are around. I've taken my 'Tour past the listed top speed, and hit tripe digits weekly, but still I have no tickets. Perfect the art of safe driving at high speeds. Then be a little more careful with your mods, and where you sound off your stereo. The tickets will drop off in time.

Trust me it doesn't matter "what" car you drive...if your a racer/speed...your gonna race it!
While my car has been down due to me swapping in an SVT engine, I drove around in my cousins Saturn wagon for a week. And I was STILL speeding!! I even raced a freakin riced out civic for chits and giggles!
So changing your car won't change the way youdrive, believe me! Just be aware of "where" your speeding and like sadeeq said, tickets will drop off.

I totally disagree!!! Sounds like you just need to think about what you're doing a bit...maybe prozac would help!!! If you want to go fast, join a car club...I had to join the BMW club...but at least I get "track time"!! There are also a number of real good driving schools out there, "Driver's Unlimited", run by race driver Ross Bentley, "Proformance Race School" out of Seattle...lots of them. If you want to go fast, street racing actually sucks compared to driving on the track!! Try it you'll like it, .....no you'll love it! Leave the "Macho street ****" for the Rice Rockets!!! Now... since I'm probably your fathers age.....I gotta say this.....time to grow up!!! Sorry...just practicing for when my son gets his gets older!!!!
