Does the toothpaste on the headlights really clear them up.when I read about it people seem serious.I need to clear mine up,planned on wet sanding then using some compound and all that goog stuff.Tooth paste sounds cheaper and less aggrivating(let alone time/work)

Tooth paste does have abrasive compounds in it (thats why you shouldnt swallow it), give it a try, if it dosent work, oh well, water washes it off.

It worked for me. But it didnt remove ALL of the scratches. It did look better, though.

have you ever heard of the novus plastic polish system? it is kind of hard to find, but it is a 3 step method. i have used this stuff on modeling projects (paint, buffing plastic) with very good results. www.novuspolish.com

anyone tried acetone remover? like nail polish remover. i saw in a mag that a guy used it on his pre 98 headlights to clear up the outside of his headlights and take grime off.

Or, you could do what I did...get in a minor accident, then for $250, you get a whole new front end, new headlight assemblies included!

When I bought my used SVT, its headlamp lenses were made yellow, dull and extremely scratched by "love bugs" that frequent the Orlando, FL area. Rather than try to restore them, I spent $234 (including shipping) for a brand new set of headlamps from Lighting Emporium, with great results. Took all of 15 minutes to install, and my local Merchants tire made sure everything was adjusted properly for a whopping $6.34.

You might want to keep this option in mind if your lenses are really shot... it looks and works, well, like new!
