Are all Contours four-door sedans? was there ever a 2-door model or hatch/lift back sedan? Also, what tranny's do the 2.5l Duratech equiped cars come with?
Still workin on Countours older brother to smoke rice...but maybe somday

All Contours were 4-door...never offered in a Hatchback or 2 door version. Although the Ford Mondeo over in Europe did have a Saloon Style (wagon). The 2.5 Duratechs had the MTX-75 tranny I believe.

The V6 auto tranny is a CD4E. It's a dog.

heh I guess you could *kinda* consider the '99+ Cougar as the 2-door model Contour.

Never a two door Contour, but the Cougar was based on the same chasiss.
What engine in your Tempo, a V6? The fours in them are dogs.
2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO.
Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

They were all 4 doors, and you could get the 2.5L DuraTech V6 with either an automatic or a 5 speed manual... the manual is a moderately close-ratio with an overdriven 5th and a slight under-drive on 4th. The automatics seem to be a lot more commen than the MTX's, but I think the manual's a lot more fun. That may be because I own one, but then again I passed up two similar V6 cars with automatics when I was looking...

I want my contour to be a 2 door. If it holds up long enough(really long) then maybe I'll do a little(lot)bit of work to it and magically(expensively) have just 2 doors(just 2 doors!!!).
