I would consider red tint for the pre-98s. Just blacking out the backups on the would put two black dots in the middle of all that red. Now if you blacked out the taillamp, reflector and backup, that would be badass! Though I like what yours looks like, SVTunit, I think I am going to copy.

The chrome strip comes off fairly easily. You just need to start at one end and pry up with a screwdriver. Take you time and you will hear a pop. I think it's attached at 6 points. I then dipped the chrome in Muratic acid for 2-3 weeks and then primed and painted. If you have any other questions, E-mail me at Cobraunit@Yahoo.com . Good luck!

Anybody know if you can buy the spray on tint in different colors? I was thinking that I could "black out" my reverse lights/reflectors on y '96 and match the color by using different colors layered. [i.e. one coat of red, one coat of purple, one coat of black] I may be able to match the color of my car. [The manual calls it "Desert Violet". Some people on this site call it "Midnight Red". I like to think of it as "Black Cherry", but I call it what the service manual calls it. Oh well, it's deep red/purple/black .] Thanks for your answers. Mike

I know it sounds silly, but I'd keep your lights a different color than your car...even if you were able to do it. At least when you black out your tail lights you can still see they are tail lights...but I can think of some freaky incidents with stupid people if it just looks like all one color.
