Alright my SVT needs a new clutch and I think I'm going to sell it. I know it sounds crazy but I'm not ruling it out as an option right now. I had a Grizzly clutch put in one month ago and it broke yesterday mad

It sounds sad but I dont have enough money right now to put a new one in. I'm a single father in college...money is extremely tight.

Or would I be better off to try and pay to repair it then sell it. I mean, I know I wouldnt buy a car if it didn't have a clutch...cant even test drive it before you buy it.

If I DON'T repair it what do you think I could get? It's a 99 with 44k miles on it. The car runs absolutely great. Silver Frost/Midnight Blue.

Someone could probably get a steal..buy it cheap from me then put a new clutch in and probably save some good $$$.

I owe roughly $4000 on the car. Say I got 10k for it payed off the loan. I could find a decent car for 6k.

I dunno, any insight would be helpful. smile

Check and see if the manufacturer will pay for the new clutch. If the clutch failed due to a flaw they may pay to fix it for nothing. Just a suggestion. The clutch in my SVT failed two weeks after I bought it. Luckily I had just got my tax returns back.

Your problem sounded more like a hydraulics failure. If your pedal is mush, and it will not release the clutch when fully pressed in I would guess you have some major air in there, or sprung a leak - neither of which I could see being the new clutches fault (unless your new throw out bearing failed). I would think a hydraulic hose came loose or something, did you check the amount of fluid in the brake cylinder?

The grizzly kit uses stock ford sourced pressure plates and TOB's IIRC, so talk with the dealer who did the install, it may be there fault, but even if it was the TOB or pressure plate, if you can show it was a Ford part maybe they'll be kind???

Most places warrenty thier work for 30-90 days maybe they will sympathize with you and work out a deal. Like scott was saying there is no reason for that to fail in one month. Have you done any brake work lately? I'm sure you know the clutch uses brake fluid. Check out all the fluids bleed the clutch and see if its stilling happening.

To awnser your orginal question no one will buy a a car with a clutch out its just too expensive to fix, so take out the cost of the repair out of your 10 grand that's what you would proabbly get for it.

thanks for your suggestions guys. My dealership has my car now and is suppose to let me know something later this afternoon. The tech said his first guess would be the throwout bearing.

As far as brake work...I had new rotors put on a few months ago thats it. Blead the brakes about a year ago.

I called SP Motorsports, where I bought the clutch, and it would be a major hassle to get Grizzly to cover anything under warranty. I'd have to send the clutch to Grizzly and have them inspect and if it is the clutches fault they'd replace whatever needed to be replaced. But as far as labor they wouldn't cover anything. Thats what I'm worried about. I'd be looking at 8-900 just for labor.

Ah well, they are suppose to call me later this afternoon and let me know for sure what the problem is. thanks.

I think you and I are both in the same boat. I just put a ram Hd clutch im my SVT about two weeks ago. After 600 miles I downshifted an let out hard on the clutch nothing but slippage. I talked to terry about and he also has had the same problem. The problem lies within the slave cylinder. There is a diffrence between a zetec slave and duratec slave cylinder. Just think of as an accordian tube the pushes out out and retracts in. The zetec one has less travel inwards not letting all the pressure go onto the clutch pack the way I understand it. But has more travel outwards causing it to push further than it should. In turn rupturing the accordian tube. My clutch was on back order and I figured that they just threw the wrong slave in. . I got my clutch from ram they are sending me a whole new set and I am suppose to send them the old one back and they will reinburse me if they find that they sent me the wrong part. I am also going to throw my labor bill in the box also. mad
