Hello. I have a 96 Ford Contour. I am wanting to increase the value of my car. when I bought it there was some front end damage. Since, there has been more damage added. Basically, I feel like the whole outside front end of my car needs to be replaced! eek Crazy I know. I just don't know what parts I am looking for. I know the hood needs to be replaced, the two side panels in front of the doors (not sure what these are technically called), and and everything on the front of the car under the hood. The lights are fine, it is just all the plastic stuff. I found a good website to get parts and I have someone that can replace it for me, I just need to know what parts to look for. confused If you can help me, I would appreciate it. Or if you know of a good webiste that breaks down the outside front end of the car with part names I could look it up. Thanks.

The sides in front of the doors are your front fenders. smile

Under the hood, as in the stuff *under* the hood or the area where the hood meets the bumper? If its the area where the hood meets the bumper, you will have your bumper cover, behind that is your crash bar. The crash bar is what gives the flexible, plastic bumper cover support in an accident. You will have your grille, its small and easy to replace (you can find them on eBay from time to time for really cheap). You also may need to replace the header panel. That is what supports the grille, air bag sensors, headlamps, and part of the corner lamps.

That pretty much covers all of the goodies. When your friend is changing everything, have them inspect the radiator support and make sure that it isn't bent. The radiator support can be seen as a body color piece that goes across the car, right where your hood latches down.

If you are looking for *new* Ford parts, look for Bill Jenkins on here. He will give you a pretty decent discount on Ford parts. I know he has posted in the past month or so in the SW-CEG forum near the bottom of the main page. For used parts, look at car-part.com. You may even be able to find the parts in the same color so everything could match.

Hope this helps. smile Private Message me if you need more help.

Might as well go on over to hightower performance and get the pre-98 SVT front bumper while you're at it.

I would suggest OEM parts not aftermarket parts. Aftermarket parts are cheaper, but also made with thinner, cheaper metal. With any hail you would be replacing the parts again. OEM parts are much stronger. my 2 cents.

If you click on the "Links" on the home page you can get to Ford Parts Online and they have diagrams and names of all the parts. I use it all time when I need to replace something. Good luck.
