Agreed svtcarboy, most Contour 'gearheads' are more like 'warranty queens'!!!!!...when the warranty is out we are no longer 'modding'....weak excuse...not 'real' car guys at all!

400 miles until my warranty runs out....then the fun starts!! Terry, to prove it, I'll be ordering the Quaife from you sometime in late June or July. But don't tell the other NE-CEGers. I've got to have something they don't!!

To paraphrase a quote from "European Car" (about a different *******-child car):

"It's a siren-song that didn't enthrall everyone."

I love this car. Too late, I've also come to love the Merkurs. A friend of mine had one back in the 90's, and I just didn't quite get it, then. I loved my CRX, but my blinders wouldn't let me see the beauty of that quirky-looking European transplant with the goofy name, and so I kind of missed something.

And I wish I could have that Mk I Capri back, too. It needed a lot of work, but it would have been worth it. Well, maybe if it'd had the 6.

I'm a gearhead in training. Maybe more of a gearhead wannabe.

I saw a 928 for sale the other day. Another kind of *******-child. (Water-cooled V-8 in a Porsche?) 7,500 bucks. Maybe I could get him down a bit. But taking care of that car is a white-elephant proposition. Hmmm. Maybe after I've made my millions and put the kids through college...

But for now, the Contour is my baby, my toy, my gearhead university, my race car, my family sedan...

I love the SVT Contour. It is a great car. I had it since new for almost 4 years now. I started to put money into it for more performance and handling but could not justify the cost to performance ratio. It is back to stock form and on the selling block.

This is why it was dumb for Ford to not bring the 2001 Mondeo! No new model to move up to.

I hear it will be 2006 until the Mazda 6 based Ford comes out! Booo, I'll get the real Mazda 6 before that.

I really like mine alot, lots of fun. I was planning on going the M3 route at some point but as much cheap fun as I'm having, it may be awhile. I think SVTs have gotton a new lease on life with cheap big power options. I mean dropping in a new $1000 3L block and $500 Quaife and making 250-300 HP, enough to just surprise the crap out of anybody who thinks a Contour is a boring kid hauler is just CRAZY. But for now, just a few tweaks and I'm happy..
