I like doing stuff on my Tour by myself...and I eventually wanna get it painted...i'm in no rush to have it painted in a weeks period or whatever...so I was wondering if it would be possible for me to paint my own ride? or should i just pay $500 and go get it painted somewhere?

if i could by myself, what equipement would i need and everything? lol

I would do neither...expect to pay btwn. $1200-$1800 to have your car painted...$500 won't cut it...Places like MAACO don't even remove your base or clear...just throw more paint over it.

Whoever does it should pretty much dismantle the shell and paint all pieces separately.

Painting your own car should be left to the professional painters on their days off only, noone else. All others should take their cars to the professionals on the days when they are working in the shop. Painting a vehicle is an art form that takes a lot of talent, equipment, time, and materials that will far out-shadow taking it to the right person in the first place. Without the talent, the right equipment is useless. wink

If you really want to learn how to do it, take an auto body course at a local certified community college. That way you can get a grade for painting your own car, as well as get a discount on all of your supplies through the school. wink

Prepping it aint hard if you just want to do a color change. Its the actual paint laying and body repair that takes the major talent (and equipment) If you really want to do it the cheap way do as Brad said and take an autobody class. Get in good with the teacher, maybe you can use his paint booth and compressors. I used to work at an auto body shop (not actually doing anything but prepping) and ill tell you spraying aint easy!
