I am looking at a pre98 contour trunk lid to put on my car. It is the light blue right now. It would need to be repainted tan to match the car. What should I expect to pay to get it repainted? Should I go to a fancier body shop or would a place like Maaco be good enough for the trunk? I don't want to pay a fortune for the paint job since I still have to buy the trunk and get the lights and stuff to match.

I am thinking of doing this because the trunk leaks really bad when it rains, and the reflector and License plate holder are cracked and busted up. I also think the Pre98 contour trunk looks awesome.

Well for a good body shop to do it they will prep and paint the trunk plus blend the quarter panels and the rear. I'd say on a guestemat about 250-400, but that's just a guess.

$200 Canadian from my dealer.

Don't ever go to Maaco, they are rip-off artists and liars. Their top-of-the-line paintjob on my car is peeling off at the nose, and has already been fixed once for crappy prep work. They were so angry about having to honor the warranty they left over spary all over my car. I was thinking about suing them but decided to make life simple and just pay the dealer to wetsand the whole car and re-do it. Less pain, less hassle.

Well I won the auction I was bidding on. '96 se trunk lid. Got it for $100 plus shipping. I have a friend at work who is in a car club called Twisted Concepts. He knows a couple guys who are painters, He is going to see if the guy that did his bumpers can do the painting for me. I am hoping it will look cool on the car. I can't wait to get it all done.
