Have any of you guys tried the oven trick. Yuo know, preheat oven @ 200 deg, throw the housing in there, then pull the ligh appart, romove red inside, then put on reflective tape. I hear of many other cars doing it, but has any body done it with a mystique or a contour? just wondering
thanks JP

It won't work. The black and red clear plastics are VERY well melted together. You will melt the black part before anything else.

You'll like what is coming soon, anyway.

More after market means more aftermarket and more peps recognizing our cars, always remember that!

Hey Chris, I was wondering kinda the same thing. After helping my friend de-amber his 2.5 RS headlights via his kitchen over, will this work on our headlights to de-amber or to paint?

I figured you would have tried this seeing as how painstaking it is to cut them apart.

I remember Chris saying the sealant wasn't a glue that "wanted" to melt.. Reason why he painstakingly grinds it away...

So the oven method works on the Scoobys? Nice to know, I have a friend that will like that! laugh

Sure does, I thought he was nuts when he told me what he wanted to do! His parents shared the same opinion as were putting his headlight in the oven! laugh

It wasn't as bad as it sounds to tell the truth. No major problems either, turned out petty good IMO. Only thing I would have done different is to leave the little clear "refractor" in place. It comes out the same way as the amber piece, but IMHO it looks better with it in there.

Comparo:

With the clear side lenses installed too:

He added the silvervision bulbs too, although I am anxious to try what many recommend and paint the amber bulbs with a silver. I guess it still lets the amber light out and is "invisible" while off. laugh
