at what RPM are the secondaries supposed to open? Mine open at about 3500-3750. Just seems a tad high for me. Is this correct? would a mod chip change this?

4000 when you are just cruising around

My 1999 SVT Contour sales brochure says 3400 rpm for full throttle runs and 3900 rpm otherwise.

Dunno about the regular Duratecs. I think it's a fixed rpm somewhere around 3500 rpm.

I've got a 98 SE, regular Duratec. You can feel it when the secondaries kick in, and it does vary by how much throttle I'm giving it. 3400/3900 seems about right....

3400rpm at WOT, varies at any other throttle point (4000-5500).

What I have understood is 3400 RPM at WOT amd 4000 RPM otherwise. This seems to be what I feel when I drive as well.

One of the changes a superchip makes is more agressive secondary opening. I remember Ray McNary saying that this is what he probably liked most about his Superchip.

Someone on NECO rigged up a small light to the IMRC and found it engages from between 4000 and 5500 if you're at less than WOT, but I could be wrong.

I always thought that they were at 3750. That's when I can hear them and feel the pull of the car more...
