I would like to replace my red LED with a blue one. I know I saw somewhere on the board a picture of someone that did it. I have used the SEARCH function and could not find the post. I took apart the plastic Contour badging on the dash and unhooked the LED part. It seems the LED is connected to a resistor and maybe something else but I couldn't tell as it was well hidden. My question is if it is better to try to cut the LED's contacts and then solder a new LED onto it and just cut the wires and add a resistor and whatever circuit components are needed and just ghetto rig the LED myself??

What you want to do is go to radio shack and buy a soddering pen. Then just unsodder the old LED and put in the new one. Make sure you know which end goes where. There is definatley a positive and negative end to those things. Usually the positive is the long end. You can take that plastic harness that holds the wiring for the led and bend the wiring, then take it off the board that it sits in once you have heated up the soddering on the back side. That should make it easy to see how it all goes together.

I recently replaced my security LED with a blue one. There are pics of it in the pics and videos section.
