OK, I thought it would be cool to change my 1995 Mystique LS V6 into a 2002 Mercury Mondeo V6, I have stupid friends so I could make them think I hve a 55K car if I do this wink One thing I want to do, I know it would be expencive (If it's possible), is put on a front end from 2000 Mystique, I like the smiley face grille and clear headlights, lol, another thing I want to do, and I plan to do it in the next 2 weeks, is put on a spoiler. Another thing I want to do is put on sidemarkers, but Im not very confident about drilling a hole in my baby. I have a whole list of stuff I wanna do, like put headrests in the back seat, and 2000 LS wheels, my question is, how much would all this cos? $5000? More? Less? I just want my car to be as unique as possible, but still looking factory. Thanks for your help!

that one isn't happening, unless you're gonna pay quite a bit of money for a body shop to do a custom job.

this wouldn't be too difficult to do (assuming you don't already have a spoiler), as the trunks of the contour and mystique are relatively flat (assuming pre-98's are too..i have a 98). find one you like (i'd suggest grand touring or maybe m3 or supra (lower than the actual supra)), or aluminum, order it, and have it painted if necessary, and mounted.

Relatively easy if you can wire. Either pick up some from your local parts store, the Audi dealer (A6), or buy some off of the internet somewhere. Actually, you'll probably have to drill a hole under your badges like you mentioned..the later models already have a hole there. Again, have a hole drilled there by a body shop.

i'm not sure how'd you go about doing this..i don't know if there are custom embroidory shops or something to do this..no idea.

i'm really doubting these are the right pattern for our cars, so you'd have to have them custom drilled (which i doubt is possible because they're probably already pre-drilled), and you'll pay out the ass for a factory rim anyways. i'd suggest finding an aftermarket rim that looks similar.

couldn't tell you..depends on if you go all out or not. there are different price rangs for everything.

hopefully this helped or i just wasted 15 or 20 minutes doing this.

Would it not be easier still to just put on a factory Ford spoiler or even a spoiler equipped trunk lid? He did say he wanted it to look as factory as possible.....depends on what he wants I spose

Again, I could be wrong here, but is it not possible to swap hood, fenders, lights, grille etc. between pre and post 98 Tours and Mystiques? I was under the impression the only real changes made were cosmetic, no real structural changes. I'm not saying that would be easy or cheap, but it's not too much of a custom job either. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this.
Just my .02 Good luck MystyMystique

the front bumpers are not interchangable between pre and 98-on contours. and it really hasn't been determined if the hood, headlights, grille, and hood can be interchangable between 98-on contours and mystiques yet.
the sideskirts and rear bumpers are interchangable between pre-98's and 98 on contour's and mystiques.

I meant 2000 Mstique LS Wheels. About the only reason I want the 98+ Front end is for the clear headlights. The composite headslights look so cheap on such a nice car. I am planning to put on a factory spoiler within a week or two, the dealer quoted me about ~$175 for one, painted, with brake light. Id also like to fill the reflector panel with lights, but Im not sure how, and Ive never seen what it looks like. Other things Id like to do is put in a dash from a 1998, so I can order a trip computer and put in place of the clock, but would I still have a clock that way? If I can't do that, I am planning on a compass/temp rear view mirror to put in. I'd also like to repaint it, since the "Moonlight blue" is VERY poor quality and VERY bright. I don't know if any or all this is possible, but I figured Id come on here and see what everyone thinks. I test drove a 2000 Mystique and noticed it had a wooden shifter, dealer quoted me $190 for it, and $104 for a leather one. I want a shifter boot on the shifter also, but not one that covers the whole shifter plate, I want the car to look as factory as possible, but also as luxurious as I can get it. Also, does anyone kow what those extra blockout panels in the dash are? My car is fully loaded, except for sunroof, and theres a blackout panel way to the drivers side of the dash by the TCS button, and another one way on the passenger side where the dash curves in, I was thinking these two were for seat heaters on the European ones? confused Theres also one by the rear defroster button. Any help I could get, Id really appreciate smile THANKS!

Well I kinda did something like this, check it out...

The only thing different now is that I have the Aussie grills, which you can actually SEE in the opening on the bottom wink Just incase you don't know what your lookin' at what I did was swap out my tailights/center reflector with a Mystique and then trim out the chrome strip w/ black out tape. I think the Mystique set up looks WAY better because it has less chrome and more of the red reflector wink Since I took this pic I've had a SVT decal made to cover up the Merc logo, why in the hell did that emblem have to be embossed confused

Mystique owners correct me if I'm wrong but I think you're looking at the screw cover caps! No more options to be had. The Mystique was never offered in Europe, and the Mondeo has a completely different dash.
