OP Cliffgump Member C Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 132 Chanhassen, MN	Well the day I have been dreading has arrived. Started hearing a clacking noise from the motor at all engine speeds. Mechanic says it's either a piece of carbon (unlikely he said) or a thrown rod bearing. Looked at the coolant level, it was low so I opened the cap to fill it. Hear this gurgling and hissing and watch the coolant fill back up to where it was, while also seeing it cloud up with oil. I still owe $3000 on it. I doubt I'll be able to recover it. gdub520 Member G Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 1,445 orange county & antelope valle...	unless u just want to get rid of your tour start making plans for an engine swap...either another 2.5 or upgrade to a 3.0 mine was ticking for awhile slightly but seems to be gone for now anyway my se sends its condolences 95 contour se...dark blue...monsterflow air filter...remanuf atx...wiring harness recall or bust!!!96k miles...motorcraft awsf32pp plugs & red ford racing 9mm wires...kvr black plated cross-drilled rotors & carbon fiber pads...currently undergoing renovation...excuse our dust!!! are my dodgers for real????

user1234 Junior Member U Joined: May 2002 Posts: 18 MA	i drive a 96' taurus gl w/ 155,000 on the clock and its been making that noise since about 140k. all things considering (its a taurus), im waiting for it to die on me.. maybe a contour in my near future?
