Here is a suggestion for all of those people who want a Carbon Hood. Why don't you just take off the hood. The only risk you run is when it rains. And you don't have to put down $300-$500 for a Carbon Hood. The Duratec is a pretty sweet looking engine so there isn't really anything that we need to hide.

I have a few hundred dollars in audio equipment that I would like to show off! I was thinking that maybe we could remove all of the doors while we're at it...I mean I would really love to show off the beautiful purple leather in my car, not to mention the other electronics....you guys are always thinking! Don't forget about the weight savings...this just keeps getting better!!!

Hey wait, why not strip the entire car, install a fiberglass dune buggy seat, one of those cool 3-spoke steering wheels, make a shifter outta wood, roll around on just a floorpan. Oh, and install 4 spares instead of customs rims to save weight. :p

wow, you guys are ripping this guy hard. i think what they're trying to say is, our engines rely a lot more on electronics than engines of the 60's and 70's, meaning there's a lot more that can be ****ed up, meaning your car is gonna die if it rains.

No I think he is saying what he is saying Here is a suggestion for all of those people who want a Carbon Hood. Why don't you just take off the hood. If i'm not mistaken, he is saying that running without a hood is equal to running with a CF hood, minus inclement weather. If this is considered a good idea, you can pay my insurance when somebody steals something out of my engine bay....

I was only suggesting it because I know guys that take them off when they go cruisng or racing. Yeah a carbon hood does look sweet. The main purpose of carbon is to lighten the car anyway. So what is so wrong about taking the hood off. Besides the inclememnt weather you have nothing to risk. If any of you can give me an instance where a car was broken into and the hood was open to take anything. If you are all freaked about getting your intakes stolen, imagine how long it took to put it in and that is how long it will be to take it out.
