Using search I found out about this mod. In one thread Someone (Chris Hightower?) mentioned that 885s are a 50w bulb or the one's he found are.
I was just wondering if all 885 are a 50w bulb?
I found some 885s, but they are unmarked. I'd hate to waste money on bulbs that are no better than the stockers. considering I replaced them not to long ago.
Also did the xenon highs in the lows this weekend and love it. Just need to get those fogs to balance.
Thanks,
Ryan French

All 885 bulbs are 50w. Go for the upgrade, its worth it. Much brighter now, doesn't blind oncoming drivers. I'll warn you thought, fog bulbs wear out very fast compared to headlamp bulbs.
(wow, it's pretty late now!)

Geez man! Go to bed. :p I wasn't expecting an answer until the morning. Thanks though, it's as good as done.
I've never had a problem with fog life. kinda figured that was due to some peoples bad seals letting in water. might have to keep an eye on it. How long do you expect them to last?
Oh, and thanks.

Hmm, I've never had a problem with fog bulb life either, I've only melted my lenses since I switched to 885s ... Be careful...

Also make sure that you do not touch the bulb with your bare hand. Oil from your fingers apparently can significantly reduce buld life (not sure why, though). I have had no problems with my 885s, but I only use them when appropriate.

plan on replacing your entire fog light assembly later on if u upgrade to 885's because they WILL melt your fog lenses. it only took 2 months before they melted mine.

No they will not melt it everytime. I have had 885's in mine over a year, and no problems. I drive with my fogs on all the time as well.....
Maybe they melted yours, but I do not think that is the case in every car...

After doing the #885 foglight bulb upgrade make sure you adjust your fogs Theres a little screw that lets you adjust the horizontal adjustment, that way you can eliminate the "dark area" where the fogs stop and headlights start I bought the #885's from Sylvania and they cost me about $23.00 but I hear thats too much, so shop around if you must.

I agree, my fogs have not melted either - And mine have been in for over a year. I think it depends on the style of bulb used.. Some project more into the housing than others.. (This has to be considered) and those bulbs that are 885 but are considered to be (HID Style)... Those DO NOT run at 50W but at 80W... That is more than enough wattage to melt the housings. That is a no-no.
I use regular 855 50W bulbs and SuperPlazma 9006's in my H/L's and I have had no problems.
